Does anybody remember the January, 1966 transit strike, which affected Brooklyn, as well as the other boroughs, for twelve long days? At that time, the only means of transportation besides taxis, were private cars, and of course walking. Then, hitchhiking was safe, and many residents of Brooklyn pitched in to help others, get from Brooklyn to Manhattan, and vice-versa.
