This picture of Holy Innocents School was taken some time in the
40's. It is looking down East 16th Street from Beverly Road. The
two entrances were gender specific, one for boys and one for
girls. Keith A. Reinsdorf adds: The school was
located on the northeast corner of Beverly Road and East 17th
Street, with its front facing onto East 17th Street. The photo
was taken from the southwest corner of the same intersection.
Therefore, the view is looking mainly northward up East 17th
Street.

This picture was taken in 1947 when I was 11 years old. I recall
the arch as "Grand Army Plaza" right near Prospect Park. It was
walking distance from our home on Pacific street.

Here's a picture of my grandparents Thomas & Virginia Pappas'
store in South Brooklyn. Being that they were from Greece,
having an Italian deli was quite an accomplishment! This was on
the corner of Union Street and Third Avenue. I don't know when
the photo was taken. There is a wreath on the window that says
SUCCESS. Virginia died in 1951. Later, my dad, John, ran
the store with his dad until 1961.
