This picture was taken by my father around 1969. It was a block party on Schenectady Avenue between Foster Avenue and Farragut Road.

This was Popeye's Bar, located on the corner of Bedford and Emmons Avenues. It was taken back in the late 70's.

This picture was taken in the 1940's. It was on Belmont Avenue and was one of the first "supermarkets". Uncle Benny is on the left.

This was taken in the late seventies from the roof of the Trump Village Building at 3000 Ocean Parkway, looking northeast towards West 8th Street. The train is the "D" train of the Brighton Line leaving the West 8th Street station and heading towards Ocean Parkway Station. In the lower left is the West Brighton Little League field with the Surf Towers behind it.
Cindy Kaye adds:If David is referring to the two large white high-rise buildings in the background, the correct name is "Brightwater Towers". Just wanted to clarify...

This is a picture of 16th Street in the mid-fifties or early sixties.
Steve Brooks adds: Yes, that certainly looks like the location. Actually, it's looking east down Kings Highway at East 16th street. As for the time, it was probably 1959, which was when "Cash McCall", the movie playing at the theatre in the background, was released.
Chris Murphy adds: This photo is of Kings Highway towards Ocean Avenue. The movie house on the right is the Avalon. Dubrow's was on the bottom of 16th Street where the traffic light with the one way arrow is located. The Rainbow Clothes store was across from Dubrow's where many would gather and sing Do-Op songs at night. Further up from the "MODERN" sign on the left side of the photo, you can just about make out a sign that says BAR. This was Healy's (later to become the Golden Rest) where my friends would spend many a night after getting off work as ushers at the Avalon and Kingsway (Coney Island Ave.) movies.

Editor's Note: This is the most popular photo in our collection, and has received more traffic and requests for prints than any other.

This photo was taken from the Kings Highway/BMT El station, according to my friend Dan "The Man" Janison, around 1971-72. The juxtaposition to the previous photo is interesting. Actually, very little is changed.

These are pictures of "Utica Joe". He sold hot dogs on the corner of Farragut and Utica Avenues from 1964 through 1971. His was a very popular hot dog stand.
