About 6 or 7 years ago, the city put up a new sign for "Meserole St" on Meserole Avenue. It was up for a few weeks and confused a lot of people before they replaced it. Both street and avenue are named for the Meserole family, one of Greenpoint’s founding families, which moved to the area in 1663. Why there are two of them nobody seems to know.
