In reference to the recent discussions of the demise of this site, it has been on the decline for the last few years. When The Brooklyn Board first started in the 1990's, there were many participants. Unfortunately, some of them are no longer living; in addition, it has been noted that the same topics have been repeated over and over again (i.e. Where are you living now, Would you move back to Brooklyn, When did you leave Brooklyn, Which restaurants did you like, Which elementary or high school did you go to, The Brooklyn Dodgers and their leaving for L.A., Who were your favorite, and not so favorite teachers, Long lost neighbors or friends who lived on specific streets, A comparison of life back in the 1950's and 1960's in Brooklyn, and now, The high cost of living in Brooklyn today), etc. Regarding the plane crash in Park Slope, the latter tragedy, which occurred on Friday, Dec. 16, 1960, must never be forgotten. The City of New York has never to this date, erected any memorial to the victims; nor has it erected a memorial to the victims of the fire on the USS Constellation, wbich occurred three days later at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, on Dec 19, 1960. Again, I agree that it is very sad to see this site become extinct.
