We had a "Chinese Laundry" on Regent Place that was wonderful. They didn't speak English but we always communicated just fine and there were lots of smiles. The shirts were carefully folded over cardboard, then a blue paper band, then wrapped in brown paper, and tied with red string. We saved all of that for school projects and just for fun. The place smelled delightfully of starch and soap, but was so hot I really pitied them in the summer. Sometimes he would give us a lichee nut when we picked up my dad's shirts.
