I was born in 1946 and I did not go to kindergarten. I had first grade at PS152 in Queens. Each day they would bring in little cartons of milk and line them up on the little rack at the bottom of the chalk boards and we would be called, row by row, to go get our carton. Does anyone know why that was done? I have always thought it was some holdover from WW2 but that is just a guess.Anyone know?
