In the third season of the tv show, the producers of the The Lone Ranger, in 1952, fired Clayton Moore, and brought in an actor named John Hart to replace Moore. However, the fans of the show revolted, and sent many protests to the producers to bring Moore back. Hart did not portray the character as well as Moore. Hence, Clayton Moore was brought back, and Hart was let go. The show ended in 1957; I believe that the show was already over, when I saw Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels at Madison Square Garden. At that time, Moore was still dressing in the costume that he was noted for. It was only much later on, I believe in the 1970's, that the producers sought to enforce the copyright law. A legal battle ensued; however, the fans of the Lone Ranger never forgot him, and warmly welcomed him, wherever he made appearances.
