In reference to the Church Avenue Trolley, I've never been able to understand why NYC, as well as nearly all of the cities in the USA, which utilized trolleys removed them? They lasted longer than the buses, required less maintenance, were much more energy efficient, and did not emit any pollution. Today, there are only a handful of cities in the USA and Canada, which have both the trolleys on tracks, as well as the electric trolley buses, which also used run in Brooklyn (i.e. on Cortelyou Road). In recent years, there was talk about bringing back some trolley service to Brooklyn, but nothing ever developed. The last time that I was on an electric trolley on tracks, was in 1979, in Toronto. I miss the Coney Island Trolley, with the distinctive noise, which it used to make, when it sped by.
