On Nov 1, 1918 the Malbone Street train wreck occurred. So this Nov 1 is the 94th anniversary of the accident which killed 93 passengers and crew. I just read a book on it written by Brian Cudahy and is a relatively short read of around 100 pages. My Grandfather's fire station responded by staging up to a station that responded directly to the wreck. The book is a good read for any of us Brooklynites to read about the tragedy. Interestingly, the male victims were easier to identify since they mostly had draft cards in their wallets while females were usually separated from their purses. Lot of details like that about the times.
