There were large celebrations in many parts of Brooklyn seventy seven years ago, today, on August 14, 1945, and continuing into August 15, 1945, when word reached the USA, that the Japanese finally accepted unconditional surrender, ending World War Two. Even though the news media focuses on the celebrations in Times Square, which went on for two days, there were outdoor celebrations in many neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
