THE CONEY ISLAND AVENUE TROLLEY

I remember the Coney Island Avenue Trolley. We used to take that trolley from Avenue I and Coney Island Avenue, south towards Coney Island. The fare was 10 cents. Those trolleys were pretty fast. I remember the trolley going uphill over the ramp, which goes over the Belt Parkway. From there, the trolley would continue, until it came to Brighton Beach Avenue. It would go under the elevated portion of the Brighton Beach line, and proceed west, until it came to the end of the line, where we would get off, and see the fireworks from the Boardwalk. I still remember the distinctive whistling like sound, which the Coney Island Avenue trolley made when it accelerated. I miss that trolley; it is to bad that all of the remaining trolleys in Brooklyn, and the others boroughs were removed.
