I remember Staten Island, before the Verrazzano Bridge was built; it was like the country, as there was very little traffic there. There was a nice park with a lake that we used to go to. I can't remember the name. The 69th St.ferry in Brooklyn, which traveled to Staten Island, was a lot of fun. On a summer's day, there was a long line, which stretched for blocks. On a very hot day, one could cool off on the trip to Staten Island, by being exposed to the the cool winds from the deck of the ferry, during the crossing. It is too bad that ferry went out of business after the bridge was built. I know that there is still service from Manhattan, but it would have been nice, if the Brooklyn-Staten Island ferry service remained.
