We use to buy our Spaldeen's at Morty & Eddie's on CIA across the street from P.S.217. In the back schoolyard, there were 10 boxes on the wall that we would fill with chalk to mark a pitched ball as a strike. The Spaldeen had a raised center seam that gave the ball a natural curve. If I remember correctly a Pencie Pinky was 25c and the Spaldeen cost 30c. Back in the 60s, we played from mid-morning till dinner time.
