Anybody Remember the Blizzard of 1961?

While we're waiting for the new one, we can reminisce about an old one....
I was very young and recall huge piles of snow and the yellow 'Snow Fighter' buses going up and down Sutter Avenue. My father worked the midnight shift in the Post Office at Idlewild (now Kennedy) Airport. He had a '52 Plymouth and it was the only car to climb out of the lot and go up the street. Several co-workers rode along because their newer cars were no match for the Plymouth. My father got within three blocks of our home in East New York before giving up. What a storm!
