For my birthday my wife gave me a book entitled "Flatbush - From Battle Field to Ebbets Field". It is a coffee table type of pictorial book with photos from the late 1800's to about 1960 or so. Lot of photos and they generally look very sharp. You can read the prices in store windows, etc. I like the descriptions which mention the street and which direction you are seeing. One thing that struck me was how wide the dirt streets looked in some of the older photos until it hit me that there were no parked cars along the street or a lot of autos, trucks and busses cluttering the streets which were probably unchanged in their width up to present day.
