I haven't seen a Century Theater since leaving Brooklyn in the late 60s. I was an usherette at the Kingsway. We had one, the Quentin in Marine Park area, but it closed sometime in the fifties. Early on, the theater had kid days on Saturdays, and a kid's ticket I think was 10 or 15 cents for the entire afternoon. It showed the feature film, the B movie, coming attractions, news shorts, comic or western serials, and "races" or games at the end of which the winner got a prize. Popcorn, soda, and candy were extra. I won once: a child's tin little dinnerware set for two. What a bargain!, and parents got rid of the kids for about four hours, babysitting provided by the matron.
