My Dad bought a 1947 Chrysler Windsor in 1950.
I bought a 1951 Chevy I think Bel Air when I got out of the service in 1958. We needed a car to visit grandparents in Kingston NY. Without a car we had to take the subway to 42nd St. We then had to walk across town to the ferry to Jersey to take the train to Kingston. All with two kids and luggage. Total trip was about 100 miles. Car turned a 6 hr trip to a 3 hr one.
