You are correct about what it took for school to be cancelled because of snow. It took a major snowstorm to close the schools. When attending James Madison we also had multiple shifts from 1963-1966, If memory serves me correctly we had over 5,600 student. The quality of the teachers and students in those days are long gone. Just look at the success and accomplishments of the students who attended the Brooklyn High Schools from the 30's through the early 70's.
