Early years were on the block e.17 between Newkirk and Foster (punch ball, stickball, slapball, touch football-then schoolyard (softball) and nite center basketball league at PS217,- next teenage years of CYO baseball Sunday afternoons were spent at our home field Erasmus Field (now Sid Luckman Field)- which was parkied then by Austin Dugan the Erasmus baseball coach-we practiced at Marine Park, Murrow, the Parade Grounds when we could get a permit for a diamond and sometimes jumped the fence at nearby Brooklyn College until the groundskeeper chased us (LOL).Later on in life we played in Sunday morning fast pitch doubleheader softball leagues all over Bklyn -Leif Ericson in Bay Ridge, Roy H Mann in Mill Basin and finally settled in for the long haul in the Luna Park League in Coney Island-fields were Luna Park, Mark Twain, Vanderveer, Seth Low and others - we practiced at the diamond across from Midwood HS. Sorry for the wordiness -but we were a ball playing neighborhood!
