Very interesting Brooklyn trivia

For many years, I always thought that the Champs-Elysees in Paris, was wider than Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, NY. I don't know why, but the one time that I was in a bus on that large boulevard, it just looked wider. However, I just found out that Ocean Parkway, is as wide as the Champs-Elysees, or 210 feet wide. I'm sure that most of you have seen the newsreels of the United States Army proudly marching down the Champs-Elysees in July, 1944, after Paris was liberated, following four years of occupation. The newsreels show our GI's on foot, in jeeps and on tanks, and the Parisians hugging and kissing them. Years ago, I spoke to some World War Two veterans who were in that parade; they told me how overjoyed the French were, and how they climbed onto the Sherman tank.
