I was stationed at Ft Hamilton Army Base from 61-63. Had a front row seat to the building of the Bridge. Actually I was one of the first to cross it before it opened to the public. Since we had to fire our weapons and since Ft Hamilton had no target ranges we had to go over to Ft Wadsworth on Staten Island where there were ranges. Most of the Ft Hamilton Company went over by boat but a few of us were driven over by jeep. Will never forget that lovely (and Lonely) sunlit day ride over that span!
