Yes, "Ditto" was clever and thrifty to boot.

Holiday decorating teams are a burgeoning business here on Staten Island. One year I decided to have a guy do icicle lights, which I had newly- purchased, strung around my front porch because I felt it was too dangerous a job for me to tackle, and they looked amazing. The following year I had him do the job again. Unfortunately, he went and bought new sets, saying mine weren't working (?), and charged me a bundle. So I'm back to putting up my now 50-year old outdoor colored lights.

Also, I forgot to mention in my previous post that neighborhood front doors were usually decorated with fresh, large wreaths or tied fir branches and several homes had menorahs in their front windows in celebration of Chanukah, lighting up a candle a day - certainly simpler and more appropriate than the garish, competitive shows put up now.
