In fact, Midwood eventually finally had an extension built across the street on Bedford Avenue, (I believe in the late 1990's or early 2000's), where the playground stood, where we used to play softball, and where the teachers used to park their cars. The extension building, which is several stories tall, and has a connecting pedestrian bridge over Bedford Avenue, undoubtedly was designed for hundreds of students. Certainly, it would have relieved the congestion when I attended, and would have eliminated the need for an annex, as well as the M and PM sessions. Incidentally, I'm really surprised that the New York Fire Department, which would conduct periodic inspections at commercial establishments and residential homes, permitted an unsafe environment, in the hallways of the main building, which were extremely crowded, during the change of periods.
