Just a "few" more name changes. You might be so used to calling it the FDR Drive, but it was originally the East River Drive. One of the most obscure name changes was the West Side Highway (after it was torn down and just a roadway) to the Joe DiMaggio Highway. Did you know that the Triborough Bridge is now the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge? The TappanZee Bridge is now the Malcolm F. Wilson Bridge after the former Lt. Gov under Rockefeller. The Kosciuszko Bridge used to be the Meeker Avenue Bridge. Finally, more than 50 years after it opened the former Verrazano Bridge changed the spelling by adding another "Z" to the Verrazzano Bridge.
The only new names I use are the FDR and the Gil Hodges Bridge because he should be in the Hall of Fame.
