The NYC newspaper strike lasted from Dec. 8, 1962-March 31, 1963, or 114 days. There were a number of temporary newspapers which were published during that period. When the strike finally ended, after a very bitterly cold winter, the headlines of the NYC Daily News stated "We're off and running again". The strike contributed to the demise of the New York World Telegram and Sun, the New York Herald Tribune, and the Journal American; the Daily Mirror also went out of business years later.
