September always makes me want to buy school supplies! Yes, we went to the hot, bitter end of June, but didn't go back until after Labor Day. In Northern New England school starts at the end of August, and ends mid-June. Remembering those lingering blistering hot days of a Brooklyn August, I still think it's crazy to go back before Labor Day unless the school is air-conditioned.

I'm also amazed at how many Brooklynites remember their teachers with such hatred. Didn't you all have any good experiences in school? No teacher ever went into teaching because they hated kids!
