Nate, you hit a Grand Slam with all five items. You nailed the drive out across the Marine Parkway Bridge and the NYCPD helicopters patrolling off the beach. I was tickled as a kid to discover those same Bell choppers with the big black pontoons and the silver/gray lettering were based at Floyd Bennett Field where I could actually see them outside their hangars on the ride home. Nothing worse it seemed than sandy, itchy bathing suits under dungarees while you ride the subway home in July. The movies (downtown theatres for me), Strauss stores, window fans, and the ferry rides. Well, you said it all, and said it better than I could. Thanks for the memories.
