I remember those mock nuclear drills, held in NYC. The headlines of the NYC Daily News would state "250,000 killed in nuclear attack". Sirens would blare, and Times Square would be evacuated. As kids, in public school, we all had to duck under our desks, and hold our hands over ourfaces; some students would accidentally strike their heads, were ducking under the desk. The teachers would suddenly yell out "TAKE COVER", and that was the signal. For a time, we all had to wear military style dog tags.
