This week in CT we had 2 below temperatures and some snow but lots of black ice. I took a nasty fall. I don't remember black ice in Brooklyn. My father was a garbage man and the big storms meant that he put in lots of overtime.

I bought my first car (1964 GTO) in 1967 and put chains on the rear tires that winter. Parked the car on the street at Kings Highway and East 32St - had to dig it out several times from the same storm. We split the year living in Brooklyn and Rhode Island. Our older son lives in Bay Ridge - he and my grandson ate at Brennan and Carrs this week.

When we moved to Maine in 1972 we really got to experience snow and ice - temperatures 20 below and snow 20 inches and up.
