Dunno where all the ex brooklynites are but here's another of my memories: The Botanic Gardens -- as beautiful a place as any. There is a small lake in the Japanese Gardens. On the Empire Blvd side of the lake is a flagstone walkway. On each flagstone is the name of a famous person from Brooklyn. It was amazing to see how many athletes, entertainers etc originated in the land that Chester A Riley called home (remember him -- William Bendix)The only thing I don't understand is where is my name (LOL)

Second memory:
The park next to the Gardens -- we used to call it the "hill"The Irish immigrants used to congregate there. On a warm summer night 8-10 of them used to play cards for nickles. The police would come and the cards would be whisked away. Funny thing was that a Donegall man would try to stop a Mayo man from winning. There was even a rivalry among them.
The thing I remember was that from the park you could see the lights from Ebbets Field (for a night game of course) and hear the crowd roar. You didn't know what was happening of course but you hoped the Duke had hit a homer.

Anybody else have memories like that?
