I guess that I'm fairly unusual in terms of long standing ties to Brooklyn.

My early connection was 1664 when we were Pietersen by name (forced to change to the Ostrander). The Dutch East India hired us to establish a Salt recovery business

but we were driven out of Gravesend, one of the original 6 towns established by the English Lady Moody. Her home is still there.

We went upstate to the Kingston area for quite a while - until the early 1840s by name - Pietersen, Hendrick, Marcus Jacobus Sr, Marcus Jacobus Jr,, Laban Clark Sr, Laban Clark Jr, George, Robert J., Robert G., Robert J., Robert G.,

My son and grandson live in Bay Ridge so we are still tightly connected to Brooklyn
