Hi Kevin - you are younger than me - we didn't have bus service to Holy Cross. I think it was a mile to walk.
On your block I think Mike Brancati lived. He was a good friend. He is living in Gerritsen Beach last I heard. Across the street in 181 was the Collins family - their dog would go after us when we fouled off a ball into their yard.

Donald Sutherland and his sister Clair lived next door to the Collins family - Jimmy and Marty.

Mr Marino had the horse and wagon. On Fridays he would go around the neighborhood yelling "Eee yah fish" They had a regular fish store on Avenue D. Charlie Guinan married the granddaughter. They were grammar school sweet hearts.

The lady who worked in Roethkes lived on East 34th. She cared for two handicapped adults - Bobby and Georgie. Bobby was Down Syndrome and was low functioning while Georgie was high functioning and really good at baseball. We'd play in the lot on 34th. The old frame house was replaced by 2 new brick houses.

Have a good day!
