Shomrim are a neighborhood watch group of the orthodox Jewish community. They patrol their neighborhoods supposedly to prevent crime, but in my experience also to monitor behavior that they don't consider appropriate from their religious standards. A few years ago, the news reported on a woman who was yelled at for several blocks because they thought she was dressed inappropriately (short shorts) for their Sabbath.
