Brooklyn Guy, I remember "playing" in the Blizzard of 1947. However, I hasten to add that it was somewhat fleeting. I was just past three years of age and my brother was nearly 12. He was my hero and I wanted to go outside with him and play in the snow. However, my parents wanted to keep me inside.
Well, I recall putting up a big fuss about it and my parents finally did the following: my Dad carried me outside to where the snow drifts had blown high. I was allowed to touch the snow for a little bit; a picture was taken to memorialize the occasion and that was it. Back inside
I can still recall the big drifts, and some moments of the day, thanks in no small part, I'm sure, to that photo of my Dad holding me in Flatbush, oh, so long ago....
