Airline Crash on December 16, 1960

On this date, a United DC-8 jet collided with a TWA Constellation. The TWA plane crashed on Staten Island while the jet crashed onto the streets of Park Slope. I was a junior at Erasmus Hall High School and remember hearing many sirens in the early afternoon. Only when I got home and turned on my radio did I know what happened.

The only survivor was a young boy, Stephen Baltz, who succumbed the following day. After all these years, I still hold his memory in me, along with all the others who met their untimely death. Blessings to them and their families.
