Harold, I was also at the first Met game at Shea Stadium, which was played on April 17,1964. I think that game was played just before the 1964 World's Fair, opened up, next door. At the first game at Shea, the Mets played the Pirates. I'll never forget the three hitters on the Pirates (back to back, or should I say bat to bat), of Clemente, Clendenon, and Stargell). Willie Stargell hit the first home run out of Shea Stadium. I remember seeing Casey Stengel running out onto the field, at a later game at Shea. At that time, Ralph Kiner, Lindsay Nelson, and another gentlemen (I forgot his name), used to announce for the Mets on television.
