The Hawk, Billy C and Roger Brown were a few years too early for me to see in high school, but they were legends by the time I got to Erasmus in '64. In his obit, it says that Hawkins could dunk a basketball when he was 11 years old. Also from his obituary in the NY Times ""He was Julius before Julius, he was Elgin before Elgin, he was Michael before Michael," the longtime college and pro coach Larry Brown once said in an ESPN documentary on Hawkins. "He was simply the greatest individual player I have ever seen.""
