Dave,the date was Sept. 12, 1960; I remember that day, because it was the first day of my Senior year at Midwood High School. Also, on that day, Hurricane Donna, struck Long Island. There were concerns that it was going to strike NYC, and cause damage; there was rainfall and winds in Brooklyn, but not much damage, as there were no trees which were knockeddown. I don't recall if we were let out earlier, on that day (we may have been). I remember that our esteemed Principal, made an announcement about the storm, about being careful. The next day, the weather was clear.
