In High School we started with 4 years of Latin - Caesar "omnia galliea in tres parttum divisum est"" followed by the awful complexity of Cicero but open again with Virgil and the Aeneid (arma virumque cano") My old school doesn't even offer Latin now.

A couple of years ago a bunch of our friends got together to help cleanup Breezy Point after Sandy. The younger sister of one gave me my 4 year Latin text which she had for going on 50 years.

French was the only modern language offered - another 4 years then 2 years of advanced French in college.

Robert Harris has published a novel trilogy based on Cicero's life - 'Imperium, conspirata and one more to go.
