From the mid sixties when I attended Brooklyn all the way to the mid 80's when I worked in the area, I was a customer at the Sugar Bowl on Hillel Place. The cheeseburger specials were my favorite. Three or four guys behind the counter only separated by a few feet would scream out the orders to each other. "CHEESEBURGER SPECIAL TO GO" "SEVEN UP" "NO PICKLE". The guy at the french fries would scoop them out of the fryer basket with his bare hands and put them in a paper bag. You had to finish them before the grease would make a hole in the bottom of the bag. Delicious fries, nice hard working guys and pleasant memories of days gone by.
