There was a restaurant on the southwest corner of Cortelyou Road and East 17th Street. Going home from Ditmas Junior High School, my friend and I would stop in during the hot weather. They sold Italian ices in two flavors, cherry and lemon. Occasionally, they also had chocolate. I guess it was 10 cents in the small, paper cup.

When asked what flavors were available, the server/waitress seemed to say lay'-min and chay'-ree; one of my Brooklyn memories. I wonder from where she hailed? Now, I'll check Google Earth to see what kind of establishment is there presently.
