Believe it or not we get great bagels and good bialy's here in Austin, TX. There are two bagel bakeries that make authentic boiled, then baked bagels. One is Breuggers and the other is Holyland Bakery. Breuggers is a chain we used to get our bagels from in Minnesota and there's actually one store here in Austin. The latter is a Kosher bakery that our local Jewish Community Center gets their bagels from for all luncheons and dinners held at the J.

We get our Bialys packaged and frozen in a supermarket called Central Market. When thawed and heated they're almost, but not quite as good as, the fresh ones we used to get at Bierman's Bakery on East 98th St and Lenox Road in Brooklyn. Well beggars can't be choosers. One out of two is great here in the middle of Texas.
