We have a family story about my mother during the blackout. She was a nurse and often worked double shifts. She came off one and took a sleeping pill and was grabbing a bite to eat before going to bed. I was away in the service but I am told the lights dimmed slowly and as they did she yelled to my father to grab her quickly because she was passing out. For years afterwards we would kid her by pretending to fall over and saying "grab me, I'm passing out". She was so embarrassed.
