In 1963 when I was 15 I developed a bad toothache. My usual dentist wasn't available so my parents found another dentist on an emergency basis (don't remember his name.) He said he needed to pull the tooth and since I had an abscess he couldn't give me a painkiller. He pulled the tooth and the tears were streaming down my face. I think my father felt as much pain as I did.
