my Brooklyn no longer exists . It was more than the geography , it was a way of life that was recognized as being unique in many parts of the world . The change started when THEY built the projects ,too many newcomers that couldn`t be assimilated quickly enough.All the shops soon had gates or bars on the windows ,it is still that way in Crown Heights where l lived.I stayed until 1968 ,leaving only after my 9 year old son was mugged outside of Dubrows in broad daylight. I`m happy in NJ AND SEE NO REASON TO RETURN TO THE PLACE THAT I LOVED .
