At night as a kid at Kings Lanes sometimes the bowlers would give me some change and I would run the 5 or 6 blocks to the Junction (Nostrand/Flatbush) and meet the newspaper truck that delivered the Daily News and bring back a copy. I ran it both ways because everybody was interested in seeing if they had hit the number or not. My reward was I got to keep the paper which cost about a nickel or a dime at that time. I didn't get rich but I was well read on current events.
