i dont know whose fault it was ,but perhaps it was both.

my opinion....its clear moses wanted the dodgers in queens,
because the mets where placed in that same location a few short years later.

how could the brooklyn dodgers play in queens.
new york giants, new york yankees maybe because they represented a city.
but the brooklyn dodgers were unique, they represented a borough.

when all was said and done since they couldn't stay in brooklyn, they then looked for the best deal elsewhere. a location they would choose and not moses.

this was the yankees town and the dodgers were and would continue to be second to the yankees. by them escaping new york and going west they were suddenly second to no one. it was their town.

i grew up in pigtown, a mere 8 blocks south east of ebbets.
i never visited the park, but would hear the roar of the crowd sitting on my front stoop.

my earliest memory of mlb was the 1960 yankees/pirates world series.
the nuns would allow one boy to listen to a low volume transistor radio in class, and keep us updated on the score. we would then race home after school to watch it,and listen to mel allen. back then day games allowed that. i remember casey losing his job for now starting whitey in game 1 which would have given him 3 chances to start. i became a yankees fan because in 1960 they were the only team in town. had the dodgers still been in ebbets, i would have supported dodger blue.

talkin yankee baseball...those were some good years for yankee fans. after that disappointing yankee series loss the next season 60-61 was the m & m boys ,mantle and maris. the yanks defeated the reds that season in the series.they then defeated the giants in 62. and that was the end of their run.

they were swept by the dodgers in 63 ,and then lost the 64 series against the cards, with the boyer brothers. then came an extended yankee drought that lasted until 1977 when the billy martin and yankees defeated tommy lasorda and the dodgers in the series.
