"My dad gave up on baseball completely after the Dodgers left Brooklyn"

So did I, and having the Mets try to take the place of the Dodgers and Giants was just useless. Hiring Stengel and Mays to draw in the fans was just a waste of time as far as I was concerned. I took my son to a few Mets games so he could see major league baseball, but I couldn't care less who won. We moved to the Boston area in 1970 and when a neighbor took me to Fenway Park it was love at first sight. The ballpark was tiny just like Ebbets Field, Fenway had a Left Field wall just as Ebbets Field had a wall in Right Field, the fans were all as rabid as the Dodger fans had been, and best of all everyone hated the Yankees. I've been a Red Sox fan ever since although I still own three Brooklyn Dodger caps which I wear on certain occasions (one at a time of course). Also, I have 8x10 photos of all the Dodgers from the 1950s hanging on a wall in one my upstairs bedrooms. Part of me never grew up.
