Baseball Gloves

As a kid my Dodger hero was Pee Wee Reese so I always wanted a glove with his autograph but never could find one. I ended up having to settle for a "Slats" Marion model, but never could understand why that was until later in life when I realized that baseball gloves are usually bought by fathers, so naturally the names on the gloves are of players from the past that would appeal to them. One day a few years ago I received a package in the mail and upon opening it I found an old, well used baseball glove, with Pee Wee Reese's name still plainly visible. It was a gift from my eldest grandson who found it on the Internet, knowing that Pee Wee had been my hero, and I'm not ashamed to admit that tears of joy came to my eyes. That glove is proudly displayed in one of my extra rooms under pictures of all the Dodgers from the early 1950s. BTW, I still dream of playing shortstop for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
